Lache Community Development Trust have received funding from ‘The Big Lottery Fund - Awards for All’ to run an outreach radio project with Flipside Radio.
The project is called ‘Flipside Outside’ and it’s purpose is to offer outreach radio training and participation using a mobile mini studio. Flipside will work with local organisations to connect with members of their groups , offering access to training as well as a voice to potentially marginalised individuals and groups such as people with disabilities, mental health issues, members of BME and LGBT + communities.
Flipside Radio station manager, Chris Sutton, said:
“We are delighted to have this funding as it opens up a whole new range of possibilities for us. We can go out on location to schools, community groups and charitable organisations with a fully functioning pop-up radio studio. We can demonstrate how it works and train participants in how to use it. We can work with organisation to create unique content and reach people we couldn’t reach before. We can take our mini studio and experienced staff and volunteers out into the community to record, or even broadcast live interviews and features for the radio station, that shine the spot light on the great work done in our local community.”
