The Revolutionary Spirit are a North Wales based band formed in 2009 by vocalist/guitarist Josh Page and guitarist James Tindle. The pair spent a year writing and recording demo songs in a bedroom before recruiting James' brother Jared Tindle on bass guitar. Over the next couple of years they had various drummers come and go, playing live shows supporting the likes of The Charlatans, S.C.U.M. and TOY. Home demos were self-released during this period as well as releasing a one off single with London based label Cool For Cats. The songs received repeated airplay on BBC Wales and the band recorded a BBC Wales session in 2012. Shortly after this they found a permanent drummer in Greg Michell and the full line-up was solidified. The next year saw many gigs played in and around the North West, Wales and London and in 2013 the band recorded their first full length album. Unfortunately the album was shelved due to a contractual wrangle but two songs from the album saw the light of day with the April 2014 release of Sunshine/Leave It All Behind single which was released on 7 inch vinyl via The Sound of Salvation record label. This led to short tour and later that year the band were invited to record with Simon Jones (The Verve/Black Submarine) at his studio. A four track E.P. entitled 'Barrowmore' was the result.
Shem, the frontman of legendary Chester psychedelic- rock group 'Rev Rev' (now de-funked), accompanied by Thor Brown on bass. The duo spent much of last year (2015) wowing audiences with a more stripped back version of their own inimitable brand of space rock. Shem has been out of town and away from the scene of late, so this gig will serve as something of a home-coming. Expect melodic grooves, brilliant lyrics and a unique delivery.........oh, and some blistering harmonica!
C-90 is a live-looping artist who remixes his original material with beat-boxing, guitar and basslines. A brilliant musician and songwriter and engaging live performer whom we are delighted to welcome back to the Flipside.
