Chester Pride

Chester Pride takes place this Saturday  (1st October) in the city Centre.

The festival, now in its fourth year, is a celebration of diversity and support for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender+ community. It is organised by a small group of volunteers who plan and raise funds all year round in order for the event to be free for the public to attend.

It all gets underway at midday with the ‘Walking Parade’, which will feature a multitude of LGBT friendly groups, organisations, and charities winding through the City Centre streets in a blaze of colour to show their support and solidarity with the LGBT + community.

The main stage is at Castle Square where chart topping RnB group Stooshe headline a star studded line up which includes Chester act Me Deboe.

This year Pride has added an alternative music stage this year. The ‘Original Music Tent’ will be hosted by North Wales Record Label 'Drum with Our Hands’ and will feature performances from Campfire Social, Baby Brave, Kidsmoke, Camera, Lovers Open Fire and Sightseers.

Baby Brave (pictured performing live at Seeds Music Festival in August) will be playing on the alternative music stage.

There will be a third performance space, 'The Glitter Lounge'  which will feature sparkling cabaret  performances from Lux De Louix, Alfie Ordinary, Lady Lowlife and more.

Also included is a Health, Life and Wellbeing Zone housing over 70 stalls from the public sector, voluntary groups and charities, a children and young people’s zone, a fairground and a marketplace.

Flispside Radio's very own Matt Poynton will be in action at pride, presenting on the main stage and helping to co-ordinate the event.

Matt said “It’s fantastic to be a part of Chester’s biggest music festival and I am so excited to see Stooshe. I am sure it will be a real party atmosphere again this year and I hope eceryone has lots of fun. It is important though that we remember what Pride is all about – celebrating diversity and saying no to hate and discrimination."
